Dominican Republic Prom Trip 2011

From May 28 to June 5, 5 high school seniors skipped their proms and prom weekends to join Create the Crossover in the Dominican Republic (you can check out their story here). But was their decision worth it? Check out their photos and the story they tell (click on the pics for the full size image!):
- The orphans we worked with were amazing! They were definitely the highlight of our trip, and we can’t wait to see them again!
- For some of us, the bond was instant :)
- For others of us, the bonding took time :)
- But we learned to communicate and really see things eye to eye.
- Some orphans had very special needs and took a very special place in our hearts.
- Even when we had to say bye to 2 of our members,
- we knew that the relationships formed would last a lifetime.
- Driving around the Island was beautiful, but like all our Dominican friends back home told us,
- Nothing compares to the beach!
- The simplest things we brought were such a blessing to these kids.
- We were blessed by people like you to bring over 600 pounds of food, aid, and toys!
- Imagine how you would feel knowing you put new shoes on this girl’s feet!
- Sometimes you wanted to laugh-
- Other times you just wanted to cry-
- And then you would just have to laugh again!
- We went out everyday ready to share the love of Jesus,
- and returned every night ready to sleep REALLY well!
- But the next day you were ready to do it all over again.
- All this, and I haven’t even mentioned the wonderful elderly women we had the privilege of serving,
- the God given talents that each of us was able to share,
- the work projects we completed that were so helpful to these people,
- or the incredilbe people God placed in our lives to even make this trip possible.
- In the end, they learned from us,
- and we learned a whole lot more from them,
- about our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who really does desire to make all things new.

Hey Mr. O!! You guys really did something so special and fulfilling that many may not even understand!! The way you guys blessed those children by even making them feel that there are people out there who care about them and filling that emptiness that they feel everyday is a reward in itself!! I am so glad that you put others first rather than yourself!! I am really happy that you set up these missions and invite those who you think will give the most and receieve 10 times more!! I couldnt make it to DR this year but I’m really interested to being right there with you guys next year!! Thanks for everything and I will keep in touch!! God Bless!
